Rugby, Football and Soccer Field Lighting
Boasting a comprehensive range of sports lighting, Pure Innovate is quickly becoming a premier name in the Australian industry. With plentiful experience in rugby (league and union), soccer and AFL grounds, we supply clubs, councils and schools with specialty lighting fitouts tailored to your specifications.
Lighting for Rugby, AFL and Soccer
Rugby: With multiple options available for the rectangular ground, rugby lighting also requires glare control for high kicks, regardless of which code is played.
AFL: Played on large grounds, AFL usually requires more lighting poles around the perimeter and generally taller ones for coverage.
Soccer: Usually played on comparatively smaller grounds and based around low, fast passes, soccer fields require even light coverage across the whole surface.
Design Considerations by Code
Glare control keeps high balls easy to track (important for rugby and AFL), and the layout needs to deliver even light across a large oval or a compact pitch. Light spill near neighbouring housing can be managed, and training and match modes let clubs switch between everyday and game-day lighting. Pure Innovate has supported representative and broadcast play at Owen Delany Park, and existing lighting poles can often be extended or reused after a structural check.
Our Sports Lighting Range
Our range of sports field lighting is headlined by the powerful Pure Platinum sports lights (1200-1800W) and Invictus Legacy floodlights (1000-1500W). Both are capable of stadium lighting and include LED controls for dimming between training and matchdays. View the full range here.

FAQs
Do lux requirements differ between rugby, AFL and soccer?
No. Lux requirements are dependent on the level of competition, not the code. The key differences between codes is the layout of the lighting poles themselves.
How many light poles does an AFL oval need compared with a rugby field?
This depends on the level of play and is difficult to put a number on, but generally an oval will require more poles than the standard rectangular rugby field.
Can one lighting system cover a multi-code ground?
Yes. Our recent project at Ashurst Park is used for rugby, AFL and cricket.
Can we keep our existing light poles?
This is often possible if they meet structural requirements.
